										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size:12pt;">Many Low Income&#160; older New Jersey residents are missing out on food assistance; others are confounded by all the complex paperwork and requirements.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12pt;">AARP New Jersey is uring state officials to help more qualified residents join the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly called food stamps. (SNAP).&#160; It proposes to make access to SNAP easier for those who qualify for the state&#039;s low income prescription drug assistance program. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12pt;">That means individuals in the drug program with monthly incomes up to $1670 and couples up to $2247 also would be eligible for SNAP.SNAP is a federally funded program. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12pt;">DO YOU Qualify for SNAP? an online screening tool is available at </span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt;"><a href="http://www.njhelps.org">www.njhelps.org</a> and you can apply at <a href="http://www.njfoodstamps.com">www.njfoodstamps.com</a>. You can also call 1-800-687-9512 for information. If you want to apply in person, contact your county welfare agency and boar of social services.</span></p>

<li><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>Identity Theft Prevention Act.</strong>&#160; The law allows you to &quot;freeze&quot; your credit, the best line of defense against identity theft. Call New Jersey Division of Consumer affairs 1-800-242-5846.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>Prescription Drug Retail Price Registry</strong>. You can easily find the lowest prescription prices near you. Call the Division of Consumer Affairs&#160;&#160;1-800-242-5846 or go to <a href="njdrugprices.nj.gov" target="_self" rel="noopener">njdrugprices.nj.gov </a></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>Energy Assistance NJ SHARES</strong> a non profit organiztion can provide up to $1,000 for moderate income families to pay their energy bill, go to&#160; <a href="http://www.njshares.org">www.njshares.org</a>&#160; or call 1-866-657-4273. For other information call the Department of Community Affairs 1-800-510-3102.</span></li>
