Surrounding towns in NJ General Travel / Distance Information: The towns of Rumson, Fair Haven, Little Silver, Red Bank, Oceanport, Monmouth Beach are between 55 miles and about 70 miles from Midtown Manhattan, depending upon the exact coordinates. Newark Airport is approximately 25 miles away. It’s about an hour and fifteen minutes to ski resorts, and about one hour 30 minutes minutes or less to the Pennsylvania border or Philadelphia. CT border is approximately 78 miles away. Of course it all depends on the individual’s driving style.

Buses: Links to Academy Line Bus Buses can make it into Port Authority in an hour 15 minutes from Sea Bright. Just when the traffic begins to build, the bus is able to take its own lane, and go right into Port Authority.

Did you know that highway 287 and the Garden State Parkway numbers their exits by the mile posts? For example, the distance between Exit 30 and Exit 22 is eight miles. You can determine how far your trip on 287 or the Garden State Parkway is by subtracting the larger of your starting point and ending point from the other. Off-peak, the trip to NYC Is under an hour. Call me about a well-kept secret for parking in NYC right on top of the Port Authority building, where you’ll exit the lot right into the tunnel! This can save 40 minutes or more from NYC during the peak drive home.
Ferry to New York: Sea Streak: Schedule into Manhattan. also for different venues as the baseball games, sight seeing, matinees to name a few. You can take the ferry at Connors in Highlands or in Atlantic Highlands.
Flying: Newark Liberty Airport is the closest, although LaGuardia and JFK also serve NJ. Budget time accordingly. It’s rare that there is no traffic. Going to Brooklyn or Long Island — 287 South heads to the Outerbridge then Verrazano. If backed up, Turnpike will take you to the Goethals, then Verrazano.
