Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in our country, according to the FBI. One of the best ways to keep from being a victim, say law enforcement officials, is to shred any papers that contain personal information. Stuff that comes in your mail, especially those ubiquitous credit card offers, should be shredded, along with old bank statements and department store bills.
This fall, the county is holding six Saturday shredding events in county municipalities, according to the following schedule:
September 11 – Howell
September 25 – Long Branch
October 16 – Millstone
October 23 – Tinton Falls
November 6 – Atlantic Highlands
November 13 – Shrewsbury Boro
Note: Because of the anticipated heavy demand, the 100-pound weight limit will be strictly enforced. For more info, call 732-431-7460 or visit the county website.
